Final Fantasy 14: Evercold delayed by Square Enix

Final Fantasy XIV Evercold

Final Fantasy 14: Evercold has slipped out of its January release window, with early access now scheduled for 19 February.

Square Enix has delayed Final Fantasy 14: Evercold to 23 February 2027, moving the MMO’s next expansion out of its previously announced January release window.

The new date was confirmed during Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival 2026 in Tokyo and shared through the game’s official channels. Players who pre-order will be eligible for early access from 19 February, with the UK start scheduled for 9am GMT. Pre-orders open on 4 November.

Square Enix hasn’t given a reason for the delay in its release-date announcement. The move means a slightly longer wait for the expansion, although the original January window never had a specific day attached to it.

FINAL FANTASY XIV: Evercold is scheduled to launch on Tuesday, February 23, 2027! Pre-order starting Wednesday, November 4, 2026 to be eligible for early access beginning Friday, February 19, 2027!

A new job reveal alongside the delay

The revised launch date wasn’t the only news from Tokyo. Producer and director Naoki Yoshida also revealed Zephyr, a physical ranged DPS job that uses a crossbow and fights alongside an avian familiar called Nephele.

Square Enix released a trailer showing the job in action, along with the full-length Evercold trailer. Zephyr is the second of the expansion’s two new jobs, joining the previously announced Bastion tank.

Evercold takes players to the icebound realm of the Fourth and raises the level cap from 100 to 110. Its announced additions include new areas, dungeons and trials, plus the Evangelion – Ghosts of Desire alliance raid series. Some content will follow through patch updates rather than arriving on release day.

When can PlayStation users start?

Evercold is coming to PS5 and PS4. For players hoping to jump in during early access, pre-ordering is only part of the preparation: Square Enix says accessing the expansion’s content also requires Dawntrail to be registered and certain quests to be completed.

There’s a little more time to tackle that quest log, then. Just double-check the February dates before putting in your annual leave.
